Pressed Earth Cafe
A great fit-out doesn’t need to cost the earth. It does however need a lot of attention to detail.
For Pressed Earth Cafe we used readily available materials paired with the Handwerk touch. Bench tops were created from compressed cement board with a clear sealer, to give the look and feel of poured concrete tops. The plywood we used extensively is good quality – not necessarily expensive – just the right board, which shows in the “ply’s” which are the laminations / layers that make up the plywood.
Also important to note is that plywood quickly ages and becomes very yellow (and not in a nice way). Many plywood fit-outs look horrible after a short amount of time. Handwerk’s approach was to apply a whitewash stain to the ply first, and then clear finish it. This resulted in the plywood keeping that pale yellow tone that makes it look so good.
Pressed Earth’s fit-out is standing the test of time, looking as good today as when it was first opened. It was an investment in the fit-out that has paid off well for the clients.
A great fit-out doesn’t need to cost the earth. It does, however, need a lot of attention to detail and an experienced, professional touch!
